Mitali Perkins - February 25, 2009

Mitali Perkins

Following an afternoon presentation at Sandwich High School (above) and a book signing at Titcomb's Bookshop, author Mitalia Perkins visited the Sandwich Public Library to share an evening of Indian-influenced dinner (courtesy of Trader Joes) and conversation with 34 mothers and daughters who came ready to ask Mitali about her books. As speaker, Mitali is outstanding. She related her own history, talked about why she wrote her books, and answered tough questions like "Aren't all the arranged marriages really unhappy?" This question referred to a subtheme of her book Secret Keeper. Mitali led us into cultural awareness and differences in such a remarkable way. We had a great time, and Mitali says she loves Sandwich, especially the Bookshop! Check out Mitali Perkin's blog to see what she thought of her Sandwich visit. (We love her, too!)
